SAND LAKE RD. IS ABOUT TO GET A LOT WORSE. BUT WE CAN STOP THAT by opposing a zoning change from allowing the construction of a HUGE multi-million dollar COMMERCIAL Plaza at The River of Life/Good Samaritan Church on Sand Lake Rd.
STOP the Zoning Change from allowing the construction of a HUGE Commercial Project at The River of Life/Good Samaritan Church on Sand Lake Road.
A politically connected NATIONAL Developer is trying to build a MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR COMMERCIAL PLAZA and bring a VERY large chain store as an anchor, in the property where the River of Life/Good Samaritan Church stands. That is right here, in our "backyard". In order to do that, he needs to get approval from Orange County, to change the ZONING from RELIGIOUS (church) to COMMERCIAL.
The same National developer who has attempted earlier (and failed) to change the zoning on this property to COMMERCIAL is trying again.
He has submitted a new application, for almost the same project, with small changes. This time he is trying to mask this project, by claiming to also put a "park" on the property, next to the Major Commercial Project. This proposed "park" is just a tiny area of the property. They hope that this way, they will get the project sneaked in.
It is therefore EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that we all ATTEND the COMMUNITY MEETING on MONDAY, MAY 13 @ 6PM in The Dr. Phillips Elementary School - 6909 Dr. Phillips Blvd., Orlando, FL 32819. We need to show that we will not be fooled into... destroying our community and aggravating the Sand Lake Rd. congestion even more than it already is.
They are hoping that we are sick of these meetings, and only few will show up, but we urge you to please CARE and attend.
REASONS TO OPPOSE
THIS ZONING CHANGE:
This will cause MAJOR TRAFFIC CONGESTION on Sand Lake Rd. and make it even worse than it already is.
This will extend the commercial part of Sand Lake Rd. and convert our community into a COMMERCIAL zone.
Once this property becomes commercial, it can be used for a variety of completely NON-RESIDENTIAL USAGES.
